Svend Aage Holm-Sørensen (1913-2004) was a Danish designer who is best known for his wide collection of light fixtures. A licensed ornamental metalworker, Holm-Sørensen started his design career in the 1950s, and many on his designs feature metal surface with different ornaments and perforations. Besides luminaires, Holm-Sørensen also designed furniture and small items. Thanks to a combination of imagination, talent and vision, Svend Aage Holm-Sørensen played an important role in Danish lamp design, and he possessed an experimental, yet balanced understanding of materials, creating innovative, high quality lamps with an international, yet Nordic look.

ASEA was founded in 1883 by Ludvig Fredholm in Västerås as a manufacturer of electrical light and generators. After merging with Wenström's & Granström's Electrical Power Company (Wenströms & Granströms Elektriska Kraftbolag) the name was changed to Allmänna Svenska Elektriska Aktiebolaget, literally the "General Swedish Electrical Limited Company", or ASEA for short
