Jo Hammerborg : He was a prolific designer and created about a hundred lamps over the course of his life. The Nova, Classic, Tunika, Saturn and Diskos models designed in the 1960s are Johannes Hammerborg's best-known creations. Biography Johannes Hammerborg was born in Denmark in 1920. After initial training as a goldsmith in the early 1940s, he attended the highly renowned Royal Danish Academy of Applied Arts. In 1957 he became artistic director of Fog & Morup. His talent made an important contribution to the growth and reputation of the company. He brought a fresh artistic perspective to every aspect of the company, from showrooms and advertising to packaging and design. He met a number of designers, including Holmegaard and Jacob E. Bang, with whom he enjoys working. Bang, with whom he enjoyed collaborating on various lamp designs. He received a number of awards, including the first CICi award in 1965 and four IF Product Design Awards in 1969. After his departure in 1980, Fog & Morup ran into serious problems and had no choice but to close.

The Danish lighting company Fog & Morup was founded in 1904 by Ansgar Fog and Erik Mørup. The company started as a small trading company that mainly sold lamps and lamp parts. In 1906, Fog & Mørup moved to Copenhagen and began to specialize in lighting. In 1913 they took over electrical distributor Dahls Brothers and on April 1, 1915 they opened their first lighting factory on Nørregade. Over the years, Fog & Mørup grew into a prominent player in the Danish lighting industry. The company began collaborating with leading Danish designers and architects including Arne Jacobsen, Verner Panton and Jo Hammerborg allowing the company to produce a wide range of innovative lighting designs that were both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
