Massimo Rioda: The designer is not verry well-known but designed a lot Murano glass. He is the creator of some rare shaped wall- lamps, especially for Mazzega. His pieces are known for their original, timeless curves.

A.V. Mazzega was founded in 1946 by Angelo Vittorio Mazzega. In 1950, his son Gianni Bruno Mazzega started working in the family's glass factory. Gianni Bruno Mazzega was aware of the importance of differentiating from all the other existing glassworks on the island of Murano and quickly transformed the previously traditional glassworks into an innovative and experimental glass workshop where many beautiful lamps were created. Around 1965 Gianni Bruno Mazzega got to know his then neighbor 'Carlo Nason' (also a glass blower) better. Both obviously shared the passion for the Murano glassware art. Carlo Nason was fascinated by certain new techniques applied at A.V.Mazzega, including the technique of 'Incamiciato', enveloping glassware technique, and was convinced that together with Gianni Bruno Mazzega he could push his creativity to a higher level. After presenting some of my own glass designs to an important American customer of A.V. Mazzega, that he convinced Gianni of his talent, he joined the story of A.V.Mazzega and a close collaboration arose between 1965 - 1980. By 1970, A.V.Mazzega had formed its trademark and was recognized as one of Italy's best lighting companies. The first catalog was then printed and some of Carlo Nason's first designs (vases) even ended up in the Corning Museum of Glass in New York. In that period of the 1970s, A.V.Mazzega broke through into the Italian design world through the first collaborations with internationally renowned designers.
